How to use wax melts?

What is a wax melt and how to use it?

What is the purpose of wax melt?

Wax melt is essentially a candle without a wick. Scented wax that you melt in a wax warmer (electric or with a tealight candle) releases a much stronger and more persistent scent than a candle. This is because it is dissolved in a higher, more constant temperature for longer and thus evaporates the smell.

How to use a wax melt?

Take the wax melt and place it in a wax warmer - they come in various shapes and sizes and are usually ceramic. Then light a simple unscented tealight candle and place it in the heater or turn on the heater if it is electric. Do not add water or oil to the melting wax. When you no longer want to melt it, simply extinguish the tealight candle or turn off the electric heater and the wax will harden. Melt this wax again next time. Please note that the wax in the heater does not dissolve as cleanly as in the container candle - wax will not disappear.

How to use wax melt without a heater?

Water bath method: heat some water in a medium pot, then add the wax melt to the smaller pot which is put into the medium pot. It is a great method to get a pleasant scent throw without the heater.

How long should it take to melt the scented wax melt?

You can heat the wax melt until you can no longer smell it in the air. The smell will gradually fade as you heat the wax melt. This can occur after 5 - 8 hours if the wax melt contained a medium concentration of scent, or after 12 - 18 hours if the wax melt contained a high concentration of scent.

How to clean a wax warmer?

To remove the excess wax from the top of the heater, heat this wax until it becomes liquid and wipe it off with a paper towel.

Advantages of wax melts

Scented wax melts are safer, cheaper, emit more fragrance, and are more convenient than candles. Wax melts do not emit smoke, so they burn cleaner than regular candles.

Where to store wax melts?

Glassine paper bags, plastic containers with small compartments, or cardboard boxes are popular choices for wax melt storage. We also recommend storing the wax vertically. The wax in your wax solvent is simply the base for your fragrance oils.

Warnings

You cannot leave a tea light burning or a wax heater on overnight or unattended. Drafts from windows, fans, vents, or return air can greatly affect how well your heater wax dissolves into air.
