Industrial hemp wax is a naturally derived plant-based material with a dark greenish colour and soft texture. When added to a candle wax blend, even a relatively small amount can impart a natural olive-green tone and create distinctive plant-wax formulations.

The wax is produced in Lithuania from industrial hemp material. The manufacturing process uses supercritical CO₂ extraction, followed by a winterisation stage in which naturally occurring waxes are separated from the extract and recovered for further use.

Weight: 200 g
Country of origin: Lithuania
Manufacturer: Panevėžio aruodas Agricultural Cooperative
Form: soft wax
Colour: dark greenish
Application: additive for candle wax blends

Recommended Use

We recommend using hemp wax as an additive to the main candle wax at approximately 5–10% of the total wax weight.

For example:

  • 100 g wax blend – 5–10 g hemp wax;
  • 500 g wax blend – 25–50 g;
  • 1000 g wax blend – 50–100 g.

At approximately 5–10%, the wax can give a blend a natural olive or greenish-brown shade. The final colour will depend on the base wax, its natural colour and the concentration of hemp wax.

Use in Candles

Due to its soft texture, this wax is not recommended for use on its own as the main candle wax. It is better suited for blending with firmer soy, rapeseed, sunflower, beeswax or other candle waxes.

Hemp wax can be used to:

  • naturally tint a wax blend;
  • create customised plant-wax formulations;
  • modify the texture of a wax blend;
  • give finished candles a distinctive, naturally derived appearance.

Any change to a wax formulation may affect hardness, melting behaviour, fragrance performance and wick performance. Always carry out a test pour and full burn test before scaling up production.

Origin and Production

Panevėžio aruodas processes industrial hemp using supercritical CO₂ extraction technology. During the subsequent winterisation process, naturally occurring waxes are separated from the plant extract and recovered for use in other products.

This makes use of material generated as part of the hemp extraction process rather than discarding it.

According to information supplied by the manufacturer, GMP and HACCP quality and process-control principles are applied in production.

Panevėžio aruodas Agricultural Cooperative was established in 2016 and brings together farmers from the Panevėžys region of Lithuania.

Important

The product is of natural plant origin, but the manufacturer currently does not provide an organic certification. It should therefore not be described as certified organic.

As with other naturally derived raw materials, colour and consistency may vary slightly between batches.

We recommend testing a small batch before introducing the wax into a new candle formulation.
