AUGEO® CLEAN MULTI is a liquid reed diffuser base made using glycerin from renewable sources. This low-odour solvent is suitable for diluting fragrance oils and preparing home fragrance blends.

The base offers good solvency and evaporation properties suited to reed diffusers. Its mild inherent odour allows the chosen fragrance to stand out. Final scent intensity and longevity depend on the fragrance oil, its concentration, the reeds, the bottle and room conditions.

The base is supplied in dark glass or HDPE plastic packaging.

How much fragrance oil should you use?

Before choosing a fragrance, check its suitability for reed diffusers and the applicable limit in its current IFRA document.

For initial trials, you can use 15% fragrance oil in the finished mixture, provided the fragrance documentation allows it. If needed, test another concentration, such as 20%, without exceeding the fragrance’s permitted limits.

Adding more fragrance oil does not necessarily produce a stronger scent. The formulation can affect how the mixture travels through the reeds and evaporates, so we recommend making a small test batch first.

15% and 20% are formulation examples, not universal minimum and maximum limits. The finished mixture’s classification and labelling must be assessed using its complete composition.

How to make a reed diffuser

You will need a suitable narrow-necked diffuser bottle, reeds, AUGEO® CLEAN MULTI base and a fragrance or essential oil suitable for this application.

1. Weigh the base and your chosen oil.
2. Mix thoroughly and check that the blend is uniform.
3. Pour into the diffuser bottle and insert the reeds.
4. Allow the reeds to absorb the mixture. Adjust scent intensity by changing the number of reeds.

Whether fibre reeds need turning depends on the reed type and formulation. Follow the reed supplier’s recommendations.

Proportions by weight

If you have 90 g of base and want 15% fragrance in the finished mixture:

90 × 15 ÷ 85 = 15.88 g of fragrance oil.

The total mixture weight will be approximately 105.88 g.

Prepare your mixture by weight in grams, then measure the required volume in millilitres after mixing. Oils have different densities, so grams and millilitres are not interchangeable.
