NatureWax® 660-55M is Cargill's proprietary plant-based blend of rapeseed and coconut waxes, developed particularly for wax melts, tealights and small container candles.

It is a blend of hydrogenated vegetable glycerides based exclusively on rapeseed and coconut oil.

NatureWax® 660-55M contains no ingredients of:

  • animal origin;
  • mineral or petroleum origin;
  • genetically modified plant origin.

The product is made with EU-origin rapeseed.

Applications

Cargill recommends NatureWax® 660-55M for:

  • wax melts;
  • tealights;
  • small containers.

As a practical starting point, we recommend it particularly for containers of approximately less than 60 mm in diameter, although the final suitability depends on wick selection, fragrance load and the complete candle formulation.

Fragrance Load

Cargill's current public 660-55M Product Data Sheet does not state a specific maximum fragrance percentage.

A useful practical starting range for fragranced products is:

approximately 8–10%, depending on the fragrance oil.

Some formulations may tolerate testing at approximately 12%, but this should be regarded as formulation-specific testing rather than a universal Cargill recommendation.

Fragrance oil softens this relatively firm wax, so the finished properties depend significantly on the fragrance selected.

Always consider:

  • applicable IFRA limits;
  • wax / fragrance compatibility;
  • finished-product application;
  • wick performance where applicable;
  • full burn testing.

Unfragranced Products

Without fragrance, NatureWax® 660-55M is relatively firm and brittle.

For unfragranced or very lightly fragranced candles, testing a blend with an appropriate softer vegetable base wax may be useful.

Always test small batches before scaling production.

Instructions for Use

Melting

The wax may be heated to approximately 70 °C to incorporate fragrance and colour.

Higher temperatures can be used briefly, but prolonged heating above 90 °C is not recommended.

Mixing

Mix fragrance and colour thoroughly but gently to achieve even distribution without unnecessarily incorporating air.

Pouring

Cargill's recommended starting pour range is:

50–60 °C.

The optimum temperature depends on mould or container size, ambient temperature, fragrance, colour and other ingredients.

Small-scale experimentation is recommended before larger production runs.

Curing

Allow the wax melt or candle to cool and cure for at least:

12 hours before use.

A controlled and consistent cooling environment provides the best basis for comparing formulations.

Wax Melts

NatureWax® 660-55M is particularly well suited to fragranced wax melts because of its:

  • firmness;
  • easy demoulding;
  • smooth surface;
  • strong fragrance performance;
  • light base colour.

Tealights

Suitable for tealights.

Select the wick according to cup diameter, fragrance load and colour, and always validate the finished formulation with a full burn test.

Small Container Candles

Cargill lists NatureWax® 660-55M for small containers.

Because of its relatively firm structure and melt-pool characteristics, we recommend beginning with smaller vessels.

Approximately <60 mm is a practical testing guideline rather than a universal Cargill technical limit.

Storage

For ease of handling, store at:

15–25 °C.

Avoid prolonged storage:

  • above 32 °C;
  • below 5 °C.

Shelf life is 24 months from the date of pack for unopened packs stored cool, dry and away from direct sunlight.

Cargill notes that re-testing towards the end of the expected shelf life may allow the usable period to be extended.

Packaging

Our current supply is provided in pastille form.

Orders of 20 kg are supplied in the original full pack.

Smaller quantities are repacked according to the weight ordered.

Available documentation includes:

  • Product Data Sheet;
