Palmwax 1701A is a 100% plant-based palm wax designed primarily for pillar and moulded candles.

Produced from partially or fully hydrogenated palm oil, the wax is firm, hard and glossy, with good shrinkage during cooling. These properties make it particularly suitable for candles that need to be released cleanly from a mould.

Suitable for:

• pillar candles;

• taper candles;
• decorative and sculptural candles;
• candles made in silicone and other suitable moulds.

As a practical starting point, we recommend it for moulded candles from approximately 5 cm in diameter, although every wax, wick, fragrance and mould combination should be tested individually.

Technical Information

Why Choose Palmwax 1701A?

Its high rigidity helps candles retain their shape without a container.

Good shrinkage during cooling can help:

• release candles cleanly from moulds;
• reproduce fine details;
• reduce adhesion to the mould walls.

The wax can also produce a smooth, glossy and decorative surface. Depending on processing and cooling conditions, palm waxes may develop different surface patterns, but a particular crystalline effect should not be considered guaranteed in every candle.

Fragrance and Colour

Palmwax 1701A can be coloured with suitable candle dyes and fragranced with compatible fragrance oils.

When adding fragrance:

• follow the applicable IFRA documentation;
• remain within the wax's practical fragrance capacity;
• test each formulation separately.

Fragrance, dyes and processing conditions may affect crystallisation, gloss, shrinkage and burn performance.

Wick Selection

Select the wick according to:

• candle diameter;
• candle shape;
• fragrance load;
• dyes;
• wick construction.

Every finished formulation requires a full burn test.

RSPO and Responsible Palm Sourcing

ADC states that its palm waxes are RSPO-certified and sourced through a responsible supply chain from sustainable palm farms.

ADC also states that its palm supply chain is being prepared and aligned with the requirements of the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR).

EUDR is an EU regulation rather than a separate product certification.
